Topic Brainstorm

I am thinking about doing a project over Rama. I read about him a few times, one of the stories being A Diwali Story: Rama and Sita Defeat Ravana, the Demon King. The story was about Sita, Rama's wife being kidnapped by Ravana, and Rama coming to her rescue. I also read about Rama and the bad karma he received in Karma for Kids. He was mean to Manthara when he was little, so she got him exiled. With these stories, I plan to write about the life of Rama such as the trials he has faced in his life. To do this I will start with this source, Rama.

Another idea I am interested in doing my project over is Ganesha. I briefly recall reading something about how an enemy chopped off Ganesha's head and then it was replaced by an elephant head. However, I also read that he was born with his elephant head. I would like to know more about Ganesha's origins. I read about Ganesha in a storybook called Ganesha Loves His Food. The story was very comical and I enjoyed it very much. I hope to learn more about Ganesha with this source, Ganesha. With this source, I plan to do research about different stories of the creation of Ganesha.

A project idea that I am interested in is the creation stories. Here, we have debates whether God created the world or if everything was due to evolution. There is still much debate in this topic, but I would like to know about India's creation stories. I know India has many gods, but I do not know much about them. To start I will use the source Hindu Views on Evolution for research. Like the United States, India seems to have varying viewpoints about the creation of the world.

I enjoyed the Jakata Tales from this week. I've already read a few stories such as The Crocodile and the Monkey's HeartThe Monkey Who Gathered Lotuses, and The Cunning Crane and the Crab. However, I found that the "The Crocodile and the Monkey's Heart" was the most interesting. Therefore, I retold this story by making the crocodile not as bad as a villain. Some of these stories have the reincarnation of Buddha. For example, in "The Crocodile and the Monkey's Heart" and "The Monkey Who Gathered Lotuses", the monkey was a reincarnation of Buddha. I plan to do research about the stories of Buddha being reincarnated from Jataka Anthology. This source, Jataka Tales also has more information about the project.
